Poisonous Gems

There are a few gems that are actually poisonous. Because of their chemical contents, these gems are poisonous to some degree. Among the elements that make these gems poisonous are Arsenic, Lead, Mercury and Sodium Fluorine. Most of these gems are safe under normal circumstances but all should be handled with caution. Always wash hands after handling. Avoid inhaling dust when handling or breaking. Do not lick or ingest. Do not heat in an unventilated environment as toxic fumes may be emitted. Also see Radioactive gems for other gems with Health Warnings.
